DEAR ( DROP EVERYTHING AND READ)

"Today a reader, tomorrow a leader." – Margaret Fuller

Reading is an exercise of the mind which helps every child develop his/her imagination and thinking skills. If a child develops love for reading at a very young age, it becomes a life-long habit and is passed on to the next generation inevitably.

we use various strategies to promote reading and encourage students to read more. DEAR program has been envisaged to create avid and proficient readers by encouraging independent reading. Students feel happy and excited about the DEAR time, A 45 minutes session, where they DROP everything, sit with their teachers and READ together. During this time, every student from Grade I onwards is free to pull out any book of his/her choice from in-class library for reading. It is really an elated moment for the teacher-librarians to see the students reading books of their choice very quietly.

Rightly said, "Reading is a way to expand our mind, open our eyes and fill up our heart."
